Lentil Pulse

• Lentils are a pulse that have many health benefits, including:
• Fiber

A half cup serving of lentils provides 30% of the daily fiber requirement, which can help with digestion and bowel movements. Fiber can also help stabilize blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of dangerous cholesterol.

Protein

Lentils are a good source of protein, with 9 grams in a half cup serving. Protein and fiber can help with weight loss and maintenance.

Folate

Lentils are a great source of folate, which is important for fetal development. Studies show that eating foods high in folate during pregnancy can reduce the risk of certain birth defects.

Heart health

Lentils are high in fiber, potassium, and folic acid, which can all help with heart health. Potassium can help keep your heart beat regular, while folic acid helps produce red blood cells.

Blood sugar

Lentils are low on the glycemic index (GI), which means they can help manage blood sugar levels.

Chronic disease

Lentils are high in phenols, which can help reduce the risk of certain chronic diseases.

Digestion

Lentils can help with digestion, but they can also cause bloating and gas. Soaking or sprouting lentils can make them easier to digest.
