Kalo Nunia Rice

Kalonunia, regarded as a prominent cultivar of aromatic non-basmati black-husked rice, holds significant value and is predominantly grown in the northern region of West Bengal. The nomenclature "Kalonunia" stems from the Bengali words 'Kalo,' signifying black, and 'Nunia,' denoting an indigenous rice variety.

Distinguished by its black lemma, palea, and awns, this cultivar has garnered acclaim for its distinctive attributes.

Kalonunia is one of the much known aromatic rice varieties of North Bengal. Known as the king of rice in North Bengal, black nunia is valued worldwide. Black nunia has already won over the taste buds. Black nunia was also applied for GI tag about 2 years ago along with some other rices. Finally that recognition came.
