Bhajani Chakali 200g Each

Bhajani Chakali is a classic Maharashtrian snack, especially popular during Diwali and festive occasions. This spiral-shaped, deep-fried delicacy is made using a special flour blend known as bhajani, which is prepared by roasting and grinding a mixture of rice, various lentils (such as urad dal and chana dal), and sometimes ingredients like poha (flattened rice) and sago. The term "bhajani" itself comes from the Marathi word bhajaney, meaning "to roast," reflecting the distinctive preparation method where each ingredient is dry roasted separately to enhance its flavor and aroma Once the bhajani flour is ready, it is combined with spices such as red chili powder, turmeric, cumin seeds, sesame seeds, ajwain (carom seeds), salt, and hot oil (known as mohan) to form a soft, pliable dough. This dough is then shaped into spirals using a chakali press or mould, which gives the snack its characteristic ridged pattern. The shaped chakalis are deep-fried until they turn golden brown and crisp. Bhajani Chakali is known for its crunchy texture and savory, spiced flavor. While the traditional recipe involves deep frying, baked versions are now also available for health-conscious consumers. The snack is enjoyed on its own or with tea, and is cherished for it.
