Step into the world of the Mauryas and discover how people communicated, wrote, ate and lived over 2000 years ago. This immersive workshop introduces participants to Ashokan Brahmi, one of the earliest writing systems used across the Indian subcontinent. Through guided activities and discussions, you’ll learn how Brahmi influenced many modern Indian scripts, including Kannada, Devanagari and Telugu. The session combines history, language, epigraphy and hands on learning, making it accessible to both complete beginners and history enthusiasts. What to Expect * An introduction to the Mauryan Empire and the significance of Ashoka’s inscriptions * Understanding the basics of the Ashokan Brahmi script * Exploring how modern Indian scripts evolved from Brahmi * Guided exercises to read and decipher simple Brahmi inscriptions * Writing your name in Ashokan Brahmi * Discussions on everyday life, administration, communication and culture during the Mauryan period * A specially curated Mauryan inspired lunch based on historical references and research Who Can Attend?
